Cleanliness characterization of the ingots using ultrasonic inspection of 100% of the production

 
  • Since 1995, PHP made a huge effort investing in non destructive inspection methods. This effort helped to design a new automated ultrasonic inspection device for internal defect characterization within ingots.
     
  • The whole volume of ingot production is inspected and each billet is 100% inspected at a very high level of detection. Results are stored in the computerized system. A graphical image of the inspection results can be delivered to the customer on request..
     
  •  Additionally, a sampling of production is regularly made for inspection using a high frequency ultrasonic inspection with a much improved level of detection (between 30 and 300 microns), on slices adjacent to the commercial ingot
  • Having used such equipment, PHP has achieved a significant improvement in reducing internal defects in order to reduce the arcing effects during sputtering.
