• PHP is a worldwide provider of  High Purity Aluminum products. Purification, alloying and continuous casting are the main issues of PHP.
• Purity levels go from high grade Al 99.95% (3N5) for reflectors through 99.99% (4N) for the capacitor market up  to 99.9995% (5N5) for the integrated circuits (sputtering targets)
• Pechiney High Purity is the only worldwide producer who can  guarantee traceability for its high purity metal from ore extraction down to the sale of its ultra-pure billets.
• PHP is a division of ALUMINIUM PECHINEY with 100 people between 3 plants:
  • Auzat (HP primary Al)
  • Mercus (4N and 5N refining plant)
  • Lannemezan (HP primary Al and HP products casthouse 3N5 to 4N8)

• ALUMINIUM PECHINEY is the world leader of the electrolysis technology
  
• The process consists of the reduction by electrolysis of a molten bath of alumina and cryolite (a sodium aluminum fluoride) in a reduction cell or "pot" lined with carbon. Powerful electric currents are passed through the cell (up to 300 kA).
  
• Aluminum obtained by electrolysis is naturally rich in impurities contained in the raw materials (notably alumina and electrodes), mostly iron and silicon.
  
• The common commercial standards confine themselves to a purity standard of around 99.7%.
