Vertical Continuous Casting
  • Vertical Continuous Casting (VCC) for Al alloys has offered a technical breakthrough to the targets' makers in terms of : Quality, Reproducibility , Homogeneity within each lot Cleanliness, Pricing as compared to mold molding technology
  • On VCC devices, electromagnetic continuous casting process has offered a technical breakthrough for the 8" generation targets : the quality of grain obtained by electromagnetic process gives the best homogeneous fine grain structure for the most homogeneous thickness of the metallization layers on the final product.

  • Cold Rolling capacitor foil
    After hot rolling, the foil is cold rolled to its final thickness. Depending on the product, the foil may then be degreased, cut and annealed. All these operations take in place in PHP Froges.
    Surface quality is critical in all these operations.

    Cold Rolling
    Lamination is a process for deforming metal by flattening it.

    Electrorefining
    Electrorefining (the 3 layers process) is used for refining aluminum for 4N and 5N materials

    Hot rolling of capacitor foils
  • Hot rolling of 4N aluminium is carried out in Pechiney Issoire plant.
  • Hot rolling of capacitor foil must be done under very high quality standards since many final properties of the foil are involved : surface quality, crystallographic texture,….
  • Hot rolling parameters of each coil (more than 50) are recorded are stored for quality control.

    Refining Processes
    Presentation of purification processes of pure aluminum. These processes are used for production of 4N and 5N material

    Segregation Process
    The PECHINEY Segregation process is used for refining high grade aluminum for 4N and 5N products.
